People don’t know who to trust for news online. IJR is organizing an online community to elevate trusted voices on all sides so that you can be fully informed. In the process they’ve created tools to give credentialed journalists the ability to report on stories that matter to their community in a sustainable way.

IJR worked with staff, executives and multiple focus groups of readers to create a pledge to customers and staff on the values that should define the company and the newsroom. That pledge is called the F.I.R.S.T pledge.

After exploring several options to reinforce the mission element of IJR. A public benefit corporation designation was decided and implemented. Additionally a BCorp certification was submitted and pending approval.
IJR in collaboration with the videography crew at Paperboys developed a script, focus groups, and filming schedule for a mini-documentary showcasing the progression and story of IJR.
